Korean diplomat’s assault on Kiwi shades Luxon’s visit

A New Zealander repeatedly sexually assaulted by a Korean diplomat is asking Christopher Luxon to push for enhanced cooperation when he meets President Yoon Suk Yeol this week.
Hongkon Kim, 59, Korea’s former deputy ambassador to Wellington, was finally convicted and handed a two-year suspended jail sentence on Friday, in a Seoul court. Prosecutors are expected to appeal, to increase the chance that Kim actually sees the inside of a jail cell.
